Welcome to Kaalamatan!

Greetings and kamusta to everyone reading this blog. Kaalamatan is the official blog of the Alamat Book Series, which deals with anything and everything about Philippine mythology and folklore. Throughout the course of this blog, I'll write about all the different aspects of Filipino folklore and superstitions that are still very much deeply rooted in Filipino culture to this very day.
I intend to cover as many topics as possible, ranging from mythological creatures, monsters, spirits, deities, epic heroes, and stories, from pre-colonial times to the most recent urban legend. This blog will include pictures, and references from various sources in hopes of providing my readers a simple, yet reliable source of educational information about the vast and exciting world of Philippine mythology and folklore.
At the end of each topic, I will conclude with how it applies to my book series. As with most subject matters in Philippine mythology, which I included in the Alamat Book Series, I opted to make tweaks and changes from the original version to fit my overall creative narrative. Though the book series is a retelling of epic tales and heroes, I made sure that I did not stray too far afield from the original tales to maintain and stay true to the identity of the heroes, creatures, and overarching themes.
My ultimate goal for this blog is to build something worthwhile that can help enthusiasts, students, as well as those who are just curious, to have a place where they can find answers to questions about the mysterious, frightening, and exciting world of Philippine mythology.
